A Brief History Of Oadby & Wigston Community Action

VA Oadby & Wigston Office

Oadby & Wigston Community Action has been providing a service within the community since 1986. It was previously known as Wigston & District Volunteer Bureau, Oadby Wigston & District Volunteer Bureau, Oadby & Wigston Volunteer Bureau, TOPS (The Old Potting Shed), and became Voluntary Action for Oadby & Wigston, the centre for Development and Volunteering, in October 2000.

In May 20th 2009 the organisation was launched as Oadby and Wigston Community Action, following the reorganisation of the county's voluntary sector infrastructure support.

Our organisation is a charity in its own right and a company limited by guarantee. It has a team of directors who are all volunteers. They meet once a month usually on a Monday morning starting at 9.00 am.

If you would like to join them please contact OWCA on (0116) 2810026.

OWCA aims to provide and expand services that support and enrich the community, primarily but not exclusively for the benefit of the people, irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity, of the Borough of Oadby and Wigston.
